2023 13U/14U Northwest Prospect Showcase (08/26/2023 - 08/27/2023)

4-Gray vs. 5-Maroon Game Highlights
8/27/2023 4:29:30 AM

Tucker Maurer (2027, Renton. WA) went two shutout innings for Team Maroon. He showed a simple and repeatable delivery where he got through Team Gray pitching just off his mid 70s fastball.

Zachary Nelson (2027, Seattle, WA) was dominant in his three shutout innings for Team Gray. Worked up to 84 with his fastball that hitters were consistently late on. His changeup in the upper 60s showed good shape exhibiting both depth and fade while also flashing a developing slider.

Marshall Tomlinson (2027, Post Falls, ID) struck out three in three innings of work where he gave up one run. His fastball sat in the mid 70s and topped 78. His slider showed intriguing upside where it showed sharp break with spin in the 2500s which should continue to trend up as his velo trends up.

Noah Chong (2028, Renton, WA) relieved Nelson with his own two shutout innings. His fastball was only in the low-mid 70s but he commanded it well and mixed in a curveball he flipped over for strikes at a high rate.

Tanner Herdman (2027, Silverdale, WA) had a two hit day where he turned on a fastball for a hard ground ball single into the 5-6 hole. In his next at bat he sat back on a hanging slider and lined it into the right-center gap for a single. Herdman has an intriguing and projectable frame with some present bat-to-ball ability.

Kell VanDehey (2027, Lake Oswego, OR) had an impressive swing this game where he created enough space for his hands to work tight on an inside fastball where he barreled it and lined it into right for a hit.

Joel Gasca (2027, Renton, WA) put a god swing on a low 80s fastball where he turned on it for a line drive to left. Gasca has a simple and compact swing that profiles well at the top of the order.

Kaden Almario (2027, Puyallup, WA) barreled one into right for a single. Almario shows a relaxed presence in the box where he trusts his hands to throw an accurate barrel which he does while staying through it consistently well.
