2022 Northeast Prospect Showcase (Tues-Wed)
Chase Donahue is a 2023 SS/RHP, 2B, 3B with a 6-1 168 lb. frame from Shirley, MA who attends The Bromfield. Athletic, square shouldered frame with a high waist and room to add strength. Recorded a 6.99 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with smooth, fluid actions throughout the fielding process. Displayed athleticism to range well to either side, works downhill and showed the ability to change arm angles when necessary. Recorded online, accurate throws up to 80 mph across the diamond. Secondary right-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with lower leg lift and good lower half movements down the slope. Proficient strike thrower that worked in the 79-81 mph range with his fastball and topped out at 82 mph from a three-quarters arm slot. Showed good command to both sides of the plate and his fastball has some carry through the strike zone, mixed in two distinct breaking balls with the firmer, late biting slider showing best. Landed 11-5 shaped curveball early in the count for strikes and went to the slider as his put away pitch. Should see slight uptick in velocity with additional strength. Right-handed hitter that hits from an exaggerated spread stance with a tight hand set, high back elbow and a hanging leg lift trigger. Incorporates rotational lower half mechanics to generate torque and present bat speed. Middle-of-the field contact with quickness to his hands, whip to his barrel and line drive impact when on-time. Displayed some gap-to-gap power potential that will continue to expand with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Fundamentally sound prospect with some two-way abilities and offensive upside. Good Student. Named to the 2022 Northeast Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
