Gavin McClafferty is a 2025 1B/RHP with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Havertown, PA. Recorded a 9.18 second sixty-yard dash time. Medium, physical build with room to add strength as he fully matures. Primary first baseman with good footwork into the fielding process, a clean funnel out in front and fairly quick turns to throw to bags. Recorded arm strength up to 61 mph across the diamond. Secondary right-handed pitcher that works from a full windup delivery with a belt high leg lift, drop and drive lower half mechanics and a high front lever. Proficient strike thrower with some downhill angle through the zone, fastball worked in the upper-60s for most of his outing and topped out at 71 mph in this look. Mixed in two different breaking balls; one a slower more gradual breaking curveball that he uses early in the count and then a short cutter shaped one with slight horizontal action to it. Sequenced extremely well, mixing it up to disrupt hitters timing effectively. Right-handed hitter that hits from a narrow, upright stance with a high hand set and big leg lift trigger. Tendency to limit his weight shift forward by sitting on the backside. Whole field approach with elongated swing path and developing bat-to-ball skills. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional maturity. Good Student.
