2006 California Uncommitted Showcase
Christopher Garcia is a 2007 RHP/SS with a 6'2'', 175 lb. frame from Roseville CA, who attends Roseville HS. Garcia is a develoing prospect. As he starts to gain more size and strength, all that he can do will show up that much more clearly. He has a lanky, long, agile body type that is good for a young pitcher. Garcia changes slots from time to time, ranging from high 3/4 and dropping down to low 3/4. His arm is loose, quick and it works with pretty easy effort. He gets out to good frontside extension and has decent body control, with more coming when his lower body develops more. Garcia has a good fastball, topping out at 84 mph and sitting 81-84. His fastball has good movement and he threw strikes with it on both sides of the plate. He also showed a sweeping, two-plane curveball and a decent change-up. Garcia has good mound presence and feel for pitching. He changes speeds and holds runners well. There is some projectability there and he should be followed. It might not be long before Garcia is in the mid-upper 80s.
