Dylan Nasiatka is a 2007 C with a 5'9'', 180 lb. frame from Bakersfield CA, who attends Stockdale HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Nasiatka profiles as a strong hitting catcher with good catch/throw skills and athleticism behind the plate. He has a strong, physical body that is well-proportioned. He runs well for a catcher and has some spring in his legs. Offensively he is a gap to gap hitter with line drive power that will turn into carry power in the coming years. His strength clearly shows at the plate. Nasiatka made a lot of hard barrel contact with his short, compact stroke. His hands work well to and through the ball, creating some barrel lag that allows him to square up at contact with his body/power behind the ball. Defensively he has a good arm, soft hands, and a quick exchange. His catch/throw tools are present, including having quick, athletic feet. If a good catching coach gets his hands on Nasiatka, he could be a top rate defensive catcher in all regards. Nasiatka also got on the mound. He has a power arm stroke and an over the top slot. His fastball topped at 84 mph and he showed the makings of a true slider. His approach was like that of a closer. Nasiatka's future is bright as a strong hitting, defensively talented catcher. He also has very good grades.
