Kevin Connolly is a 2007 MIF/1B with a 6'1'', 170 lb. frame from Santa Clara CA, who attends Bellarmine College Prep. He has a rangy, lean, long body with significant room to fill out. There is something about Connolly's actions on the field that bring some sense of anticipation about what he could do some day. Offensively he wants to hit and has some life in his hands. He waggles the bat aggressively as he sets up. Connolly has a good hitting approach, staying gap to gap. He has good plate coverage and does so while keeping his hands inside the ball. He is short to the ball and has some bat speed. Connolly keeps the barrel in the zone and battles each at-bat. He is an interesting hitter and should be followed, there is some projection in his offensive abilities, coupled with his body type. Defensively he made plays at all the infield spots (MIF & 3B). He has an easy arm stroke and a quiet approach with his feet. He takes nice angles to the ball and showed soft hands. He is a bit long and angular and doesn't look like a typical infielder, but he is a pretty sound defensive player and sort of a gamer. Connolly is a strong student and an intriguing ballplayer, one who is still developing and looks to have the type of desire and aggressiveness to become a player at the college level.
