2004 Sunshine East Showcase
Adam Achilles is a 2005 C from Forked River, NJ. At 6'0", 185, he has very good strength, particularly in his hands and lower half. He really impressed us with his hitting potential. Achilles has a short, balanced swing and generates above average bat speed for this level. He uses the entire field well and the ball jumps off his bat on contact. Maybe because of his focus on making solid contact where the ball is pitched, we didn’t see much in the way of loft power potential from Achilles, but the bat speed and strength are there for it to develop in the future. Defensively, Achilles has the athletic ability and basic tools to catch at the next level but is still a bit raw in his skills, particularly with his footwork blocking and throwing. He does seem to work hard and receives the ball very well. He is an excellent student also.
