Henry Henkel is a 2023 C/RHP with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Black Diamond, WA who attends Tahoma Senior. He ran a 7.59 second sixty. A primary catcher with a medium slender build. Behind the plate he showed a quicker exchange and release with oaky arm strength as he was consistently on the bag with his throws doing a nice job of gaining ground with his first step. On the mound he starts with a leg lift to the belt doing a nice job of getting into the back side as he drives down the mound after hitting the balance point. The arm action works compact through the back up to a three-quarters arm slot with he fastball sitting 66-71 mph staying in the zone consistently and working quick innings as he mixed in a young breaking ball in the low 60's as well as a change with some turnover as he created weaker contact. Switch hitter, starts with a balanced stance from the right side with high hands before he works to the inside part of the ball pushing the hands through contact as he used the opposite with a line drive approach at his best. From the left side he lowers his hands dropping them into the slot to get the bat head out front as he looked to pull the ball allowing the hips to leak out and create the rotational drive. Good student. Named to the 2021 Northwest Prospects Showcase Top Prospects List.
