2023 California Workout Showcase (Sunday)
Rocco Cimarusti is a 2026 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-9 142 lb. frame from Encinitas, CA who attends La Costa Canyon. Medium, slender frame with a high waist, long levers and plenty of room to add strength. Recorded a 8.25 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary left-handed pitcher that worked from a full windup delivery with a higher, coiled leg lift and shorter stride out to foot strike. Simple, repeatable delivery with shirt takeaway on the backside of the arm swing and some natural arm-side life to the fastball. Fastball worked in the upper-60s for the duration of his outing and topped out at 70 mph from a high three-quarters arm slot. Developing command of the strike zone that will continue to improve with physical maturity and mechanical adjustments. Mixed in a developing breaking ball with 1-7 shape to it and some gradual depth, while flashing a straight changeup that will need to be refined. Secondary outfielder with a developing defensive skill set. Incorporates deliberate footwork into the fielding process, gathers cleanly and transitions into release with some momentum. Recorded accurate throws up to 70 mph during drills. Took part in the first baseman portion of the workout as well, where he showed some agility around the bag and a clean funnel out in-front. Produced arm strength up to 68 mph across the diamond. Left-handed hitter that hits from an upright, slightly open stance with a high, tight hand set and leg lift trigger. Lofted stroke with elongated path and developing bat-to-ball skills. Produced mostly middle and oullside contact with occasional line drive when on-time and in-sync. Will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Tons of physical projection remains and has plenty of upside on both sides of the baseball. Excellent Student. Named to the 2020 California Workout Showcase Top Prospect List.
