2022 California Workout Showcase (Sunday)
Josh Stonehouse is a 2025 1B/LHP/OF with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Camarillo, CA who attends Chaminade College Prep. A medium size frame. Ran a 7.57 60-yard dash. A primary 1B that waits back on the ball, smoother hands fielding it out front, makes accurate feeds to bases and moves well getting off the bag. In the outfield has a cautious approach to the ball, developing footwork and average arm strength with some accuracy. At the plate hits from a wider base and slightly open stance with a medium leg kick. Utilizes the legs some but is never really in sync with his swing which has some vertical bat angle through the zone. Shows some feel for the barrel and extends through the baseball pretty well, primary pull side approach. On the mound starts with a side step delivery and an above the belt leg kick and shorter stride length down the mound. Throws with a shorter arm action out of a high 3/4 slot. Fastball was in the low 70's with some arm side sink to it. Curve had sweeping action to it in the low 60's and also showed feel for a fading change up. Decent feel for locating the fastball and curve in the zone. Great student.
