Mateo Villanueva is a 2026 RHP/1B/OF with a 6-2 165 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Coronado. Very nice young pitcher's build with tons of physical projection. Slow paced high leg raise delivery, accelerates hard down the mound, lands a bit open out front, has some energy at release. Fastball worked in the mid-80's and topped out at 87 mph, works 2 seam/4 seam and gets nice running life on his 2-seamer, more effort at release on the 4-seamer. Very advanced change up for his age, sells it hard with nice arm speed and command, will double up on it. Gets out ahead of his arm on his curveball, tends to slow his arm, still developing feel for this pitch. Young power pitcher's package with some feel for pitching already. 7.27 runner in the sixty. Plays the outfield when not on the mound. Right handed hitter, hits from a narrow slightly open stance with a high hand load, long and looping upper body swing, flashes some leverage and juice when on time. Very interesting young arm. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
