Tyler Cooper is a 2009 1B/P with a 6'2'', 200 lb. frame from Boca Raton, FL who attends Cardinal Gibbons HS. He has a very nice, tall athletic body with good present strength and the promise of more to come. Cooper hits from a spread stance with his lower half with good upper half coil getting ready to hit. He shows good bat speed and the ball jumps off his bat hard at contact. He best contact is when pulling the ball and he tends to reach at balls away from him. Cooper has a good swing plane. He projects well as a hitter. Defensively, Cooper shows good agility around first base and soft hands on throws. He looks athletic enough to play some in the outfield if given a chance. Cooper also pitched some and showed good pitching mechanics from a slow and balanced delivery. His fastball topped out at 80 mph and his 73 mph slider showed nice bite to it. Cooper has some nice tools that should keep on developing. Follow.
