Jake Brenner is a 2023 1B/3B with a 5-9 130 lb. frame from Forest Hills, NY who attends Academy Of American Studies. Medium, square shouldered frame with a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran an 8.60 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front, young footwork off the base and will continue to refine, shorter arm action on throws across, accurate to third base with developing arm strength and carry. Also pitched, side rock step moving into a leg lift just below belt; short stride coming down the mound. Throws strikes with fastball and creates occasional cut action up to 65 mph, pitched to contact and flashed a curveball up to 56 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a short leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Contact oriented approach, works to the middle of the field and shows a linear path through the zone. Bat speed will continue to develop with strength, puts the ball in play, occasionally gets around the ball at point of contact. Excellent student.
