Aidan Gilbert is a 2023 RHP/OF with a 6-1 135 lb. frame from Willington, CT who attends Edwin O. Smith. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, lean and projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.80 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, side step moving into a leg lift up past belt, gets tall on backside, moving parts to delivery, shows arm speed through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, mostly true in life but does show cut at times, ball comes out cleanly with some effort at release. Works around the zone, curveball plays off of fastball well, some bite to it up to 64 mph and shows comfort landing the pitch for strikes. Similar full arm action on throws from the outfield, takes short steps moving towards the ball and works over front side at release, fields the ball out front with some bend at waist, projects with additional lower half incorporated. Righthanded hitter, begins with a spread stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; weight starts on backside with subtle shift through lower half. Longer swing path through the zone, works on a linear plane through the zone, contact oriented approach and projects with added strength. Very good student.
