Juan Diaz is a 2027 SS/2B/3B with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Hialeah, FL who attends City Of Hialeah Education Academy. Athletic, lean frame with plenty of time and room to fill out. Recorded a 6.80 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary shortstop with smooth, athletic actions throughout the fielding process. Works downhill through the baseball with rhythm and smoothness, funnels cleanly out in-front and recorded online, accurate throws up to 87 mph across the diamond. Showed similar athleticism in the outfield portion of the defensive workout. Displayed proper footwork into the process, gathered cleanly and maintained momentum into release. Produced arm strength up to 83 mph during drills. Ran his fastball up to 81 mph during a brief appearance on the mound, repeating his delivery well and moving down the slope efficiently. Mixed in a slightly faded changeup as his go-to secondary offering, creating enough separation to disrupt timing. Will continue to add more velocity and refine his overall repertoire. Switch-hitter with slightly different swings from each side. From the right-side, he starts from a narrow base with a high hand set and high back elbow. He stays short and direct to the baseball with some quickness to his hands. From the left-side he exhibits a loose, leveraged stroke with good separation and more power potential from this side. It is a legitimate switch-hitting skill set with tons of upside. Athletic, twitchy prospect with an enticing set of tools, will continue to improve with proper mechanical adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
