Drew Smith is a 2025 SS/RHP, C with a 5-8 140 lb. frame from League City, TX who attends Friendswood High School. Young, broad shouldered frame with a high waist and a lean and projectable build. Ran a 7.67 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front with a wide base at gather, shows athleticism and will continue to refine overall actions, low effort release on throws across the diamond. Also pitched, rhythmic delivery with a short side step into mechanics, small hip turn at top; full arm action through the back working to a high three-quarters release point. Works behind the ball, natural running life to fastball up to 73 mph and mixed in an 11-5 shaped curveball with some present feel for the pitch. Projects well moving forward. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Handsy swing and stays short to the ball, works on a linear path through the zone. Worked around the field with line drive contact, projects with added strength, stays balanced and on time with swing, occasionally gets inside the ball with hands. Very good student.
