John Short is a 2025 MIF/RHP, OF with a 5-9 180 lb. frame from Anaheim, CA who attends Cypress. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present physical strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.36 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front with two hands, shorter arm action with a quick transfer out of glove, keeps throws low and shows carry across, showed balance on charge play; showed athleticism and range in the outfield during live action and projects well out there moving forward. Also pitched, side step moving into delivery, leg lift up to belt, hip turn at top of delivery, lands closed with strike foot but works over front side well; quick and loose arm through the back, fastball topped out at 84 mph, ball jumps out of hand and mixed a curveball with depth and bite to it up to 69 mph. Right-handed hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing at the plate. Incorporates physical strength well, stays short to the ball and shows quickness to hands. Ball comes off the barrel well when squared with back spin, best when extended out front, occasionally too inside the ball and rotational at times. Very good student.
