Brayden Sawyer is a 2022 RHP/IF with a 5-11 200 lb. frame from Grundy Center, IA who attends Grundy Center. Medium frame with broad shoulders and beginnings of strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather with slip hip coil over bag leg. Utilized lower half well while working in line to the plate. Quicker arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball came out of hand cleanly showing good feel for the bottom of the zone in the low to mid 70's, topped at 74 mph. Curveball showing 11/5 shape with tighter spin and good depth in the low 60's. Also generated solid sink with a changeup offering in the mid 60's. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing aggressive footwork while working to and through the baseball. Funnels from a slightly deeper position and worked through exchange efficiently. Released from a three-quarters arm slot topping at 68 mph. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and toe tap trigger. Worked to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to contact with an uphill barrel plane through extension. Primarily looked to work the baseball to the middle of the field and pull side gap. Flashed some jump with carry when turning the barrel to contact and working to pull side. Good student as well.
