We’ve worked with Guengerich extensively over the past few years and he has to rank as one of the most improved players in the country over that period. He’s a fanatically hard worker who will max out every bit of physical talent that he has. The two biggest improvements that he’s made recently are to his catching skills and to his overall speed and body life. Guengerich recorded a couple of pop times under 2.00 in the skills workout and threw a very respectable 77 mph on the gun. He’s knocked his 60 time from 7.86 to 7.11 during the past year and that improvement shows both in his defensive quickness and his ability to run the bases. Guengerich also plays corner outfield and first base and this speed will help him at those positions as well. His bat from the left side has always been his strength; he has a short line drive swing and uses the entire field well. He’s now a young man who can definitely play at the college level and he will just keep getting better and better. Cody is an outstanding student who could end up surprising a lot of people.
