Joaquin Huerta is a 2023 SS/RHP with a 5-7 125 lb. frame from Chicago, IL who attends Brother Rice. Young frame with slender build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.81 seconds. Hits from spread, even-based stance with smaller leg lift trigger, gets the barrel out, middle field approach with ability to work to all fields, good contact skills, will improve with strength. Worked out in the infield, slower twitch to the ball, developing hand actions, long closed stride into throws, up to 64 mph across. Also pitched, 3/4 slot with compact stroke, fastball worked 65-68 mph, showed curveball with depth.
