LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2023 14U National Showcase
Roy Kim is a 2027 LHP/1B,/OF with a 5-11 168 lb. frame from Temecula, CA who attends Great Oak. A taller frame and bigger build. Ran an 8.58 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher who had a hybrid start, stepping into a leg lift up above the belt. Showed a longer arm stroke with a three-quarters arm slot. Overall was very efficient in his outing being able to locate three pitches for a strike. He was not afraid to pitch hitters backward either. He showed a fastball that was well-commanded with arm-side run, pairing that with a changeup with good depth, killing a ton of spin, looking splitter-like. He mixed in a harder slider with good tilt & depth being a 2-7 breaking sweeper at times. It was a high-spin pitch that was up above the 2,400 RPM mark at times. Missed bats with the breaker. Efficient overall and made an effort to control the run game as well, mixing his looks and few picks in during his outing. Threw 2.2 innings, striking out 4 opposing hitters along the way. A left-handed hitter with a sightly open and wider base as he sets up in the box. He was able to stay inside the ball during his round of BP swings. Able to get out on the front side slightly to produce some hard-hit balls pull-side. Had a couple of good swings pull-side. Produced an 81 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Also worked out as an outfielder with a loose arm path working thru the ball well during his round of throws. He threw 74 mph and showed some athleticism with his route to and through the ball. Also worked out at first base, he gloved it up the middle with two hands and worked into the throws with a longer arm action, getting uphill out of the hand. Had good feeds to second and threw 81 mph across the diamond.
