Cal Leighton is a 2025 C/RHP, 3B with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Chesterfield, MO who attends Westminster Christian Academy. A taller frame and lean/slender build. Room to keep adding strength moving forward. Ran a 7.40 60-yard dash. Primary catcher who used a side saddle setup and gained momentum well coming out of the crouch. Threw from a lower slot with a longer arm action. He was accurate to the bag at second, throwing 79 mph and producing a 1.84 pop time. Good whip to the arm and was quick out of the crouch overall. Also worked out as an infielder, moving low to the ground with athletic actions. He threw 82 mph across the diamond and was accurate to the bag. He had a shorter arm stroke with a ton of arm speed. Simple and fluid round of throws across the infield. A right-handed hitter with an upright stance and narrow base. He keeps the hands higher and the back elbow up. Gathers over the back foot with a toe-tap trigger. He strides into it with a direct path, taking his hands to the ball with good intent. He was able to work out in front and control the barrel. The best contact came when lifting to the pull-side during his round of BP swings and worked the whole field during the round. Produced an 84 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Added 3 hits in-game as well. Took to the mound as a right-handed pitcher who worked from the wind-up. He sidesteps into a leg lift up around the belt, just above. He moved well down the mound with a controlled stroke. He had a longer arm stroke through the back and had a good feel for an efficient arm stroke. Releases from a three-quarters arm slot. The fastball was into the upper-70s with some life to it. Also flashed a 12-6 curveball with good depth to it in the upper-60s. Mixed in a changeup in the low-70s as well. Mixed pitches during his outing. Great student. Named to 2023 Midwest Prospect TP List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
