Thomas Charlwood is a 2023 OF/RHP with a 5-7 135 lb. frame from Lindenhurst, NY who attends Lindenhurst. Recorded a 5.01 second forty-yard dash time. Small, slender frame with a high waist and plenty of room to fill out. Primary outfielder that showed a fundamentally sound defensive skill set, smooth and fluid footwork into the process and a clean funnel off his front foot. Worked through baseball, gathering cleanly into a big crow-hop, maintaining good momentum through release. Recorded developing arm strength up 78 mph during drills, flashing some present carry and accuracy to the bags. Secondary right-handed pitcher; full windup delivery with side-step rocker into a belt high leg lift, drop and drive lower half mechanics and good extension out in front. Fastball worked in the mid-to-upper 70s for the duration of his outing, topping out at 81 mph from a high three-quarters arm slot. Repeats well, commands both sides of the plate with sinking action to the fastball and well-tunneled 11-5 curveball. Curveball shows late depth and good present spin traits indicative of future swing-and-miss potential. Right-handed hitter that hits from an upright, open stance with a high, tight hand set and high back elbow. Incorporates hover trigger for timing, rotational lower mechanics to get to launch and some quickness to his hands. Contact oriented swing with slightly elongated swing path and developing feel for the barrel. Mostly middle-of-the field impact with the ability to turn the barrel on the inner-half. Will continue to improve with minor mechanical refinements and additional strength. Good Student.
