2023 Sunshine Mid-South Showcase (Tues/Wed)
Grant Walendzik is a 2026 C/RHP, 1B, 3B, OF with a 5-9 175 lb. frame from Olive Branch, MS who attends Lewisburg. Compact frame. In the outfield, he is on the more methodical side in approach to the fielding point but secured each ball cleanly and showed makings of quality carrying accuracy to both bases. Behind the dish, he sets up in a side saddle crouch , moves the feet well post reception and has makings of strong carry when working down hill. 2.09 pop time. At the plate, he sets up with a widespread base and square stance. From there he utilizes his sizable lowers to create hard line drive contact. When timed up this rotational approach creates the whip to do damage to the pull side. The strength is evident already and should continue to improve as he matures physically. On the mound, Its a sturdy compact delivery with moderate kick into a short and tight arm swing. Fastball plays fairly true into the mid 70's. The command lived to the glove side away from right handed hitters and forced frequent weak contact. The soft 12-6 breaking ball was landed frequently and a very effetive change of pace. 7.05 60-yard. Named to the Top Prospect list.
