2023 Great Lakes Prospect Showcase
Andrew Wolford is a 2025 RHP/3B with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from South Bend, IN who attends Laville. Long and slender build with lots of room to get stronger. Has a deep arm action in back but keeps it on line and gets it up in time, crossfire stride out front that keeps him from getting over his front side at times, high 3/4's arm slot that creates some plane and angle. Fastball topped out at 76 mph, mostly straight with occasional running life. Slider has some spin and has potential, flashed some bite and depth at times. Also threw a developing change up. 8.06 runner in the sixty. Plays third base when not on the mound, fields the ball cleanly with good hands, especially to the backhand. Right handed hitter, hits from an exaggerated high back elbow load, has a loose and fluid swing with some extension through the ball, can get too inside out at times due to his load position but works through it well enough. Will continue to improve as he gets stronger.
