Jonathan Boyles is a 2023 SS/RHP with a 5-9 120 lb. frame from Bolingbrook, IL who attends Plainfield East. Compact frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength with continued maturity. Primary shortstop with smooth paced footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Showed developing fluidity while funneling the baseball and worked through exchange efficiently. Showed the ability to throw on the run with accuracy from a three-quarters arm slot, topped at 70 mph. Right handed hitter with a balanced stance and compact leg lift trigger. Stacks weight at load and worked to contact with rotational actions. Direct hand path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Flashed occasional feel for the barrel while utilizing a mid field approach. Also pitched working exclusively from the stretch. Medium leg lift and stays balanced at gather. Loose arm action at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Showed developing feel for the edges of the zone with a fastball offering that sat in the mid to upper 60's, topped at 70 mph. Flashed a breaking ball that generated loose spin with occasional depth to the bottom of the zone in the upper 50's. Very good student as well.
