Armando (AJ) Hurtado is a 2022 C/IF, OF with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Riverside, CA who attends Ramona. Medium athletic build with room to still fill out as he develops. Primary catcher, conventional crouch then stands straight up to throw. Short and quick arm action with a quick transfer as well. Posted a 2.15 second pop time down to second base. From the infield, fields out in front and stays in front of the ball well. Meticulous with his glove work. At the plate, uses a narrow and slightly closed stance with a simple leg lift trigger. Stays tall on his backside and generates a slight hand coil into his load. Uphill barrel plane through the zone with hands that work to stay inside of the baseball. Great student in the classroom as well.
