Luis Joaquin Alombro is a 2022 OF/C with a 5-7 175 lb. frame from Irvine, CA who attends Woodbridge High School. Young, broad shouldered frame with present strength proportioned to frame, incorporates strength into game. Ran a 7.05 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, takes short steps moving towards the ball and attacks it well, works through the ball well, quicker transfer out of glove, works into a lower arm slot and can occasionally get under the ball at release. Also caught, higher set behind the plate during drills, incorporates footwork coming out with an extra step through release, receives the ball closer to boy, shows nice carry on throws down to second base with accuracy, shorter arm stroke. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a medium hand set in the box; loads hands back at start of swing but remains compact coming through the zone. Utilizes a small leg lift trigger moving into contact, hands work well in swing, can continue to implement additional extension out front, swings on a linear plane with steady contact to his pull side. Very good student.
