Nicolas Vasquez is a 2023 C/RHP/3B with a 5-7 218 lb. frame from Fort Worth, TX who attends Arlington Heights. Thick lower half, strong all over. 7.70 runner in the sixty, moves well for his size, primary catcher who also plays third base, works hard behind the plate and has a quick release on his throws. Right handed hitter, his from a narrow stance with a big stride into contact, swing is loose and extended with some bat speed behind it, showed his power to left centerfield well, aggressive hitter. Also pitched, fast high arm swing to a 3/4's arm slot, repeats his mechanics well and has some deception. Fastball topped out at 78 mph, mostly straight, velocity plays up due to his delivery and off speed pitches. Knuckleball is a legit pitch, thrown from a similar release slot with lots of dancing life, thrown for strikes and used frequently to very good effect. Also throws a soft curveball for added deception. Good student.
