Lucas Anderson is a 2008 right handed pitcher from Science Hill HS, residing in Jonesborough, TN. He has a 6'3" 186 lb. frame and a long, rangy, strong body that is physically projectable. To say he has a plus body now is not far off. Anderson pitches from an over the top slot. On the backside he cups the ball a bit but comes out of it well. He will be able to repeat his delivery in time with more innings and as is now, it is a workable delivery. His arm speed is good and as he continues to gain more body control and continues to develop more strength, particularly in the lower half, he should gain velocity pretty easily. Anderson's fastball topped at 85 mph and did a nice job of getting that pitch on a downhill plane. His fastball is a good pitch now and better in the future. He also has a good looking 12/6ish curveball that at times flashed plus depth, especially coming out of that over the top slot. It has a chance to be an above average "true overhand" curveball. The action is more rolling than biting at this point but that can be changed with work. Anderson also showed a usable change-up. In all, he has three quality and still developing offerings, giving him full repertoire that will continue to get better. Anderson is a nice d1 follow prospect heading into the summer of '07 and it is not out of the realm of possibility to consider that he might get some pro interest in the spring of '08.
