Ryan Bakes is a 2023 C/OF with a 5-10 187 lb. frame from Algonquin, IL who attends Huntley. Compact and strong athletic build. Right handed hitter, hits from a spread stance with limited lower half shift but plenty of lower half turn, explodes hips hard, big raw bat speed with big jump off the barrel, looks to pull the ball and attacks with the barrel, pretty simple and well timed. Primary catcher on defense, comfortable in his crouch with good flexibility, has good raw arm strength and carry, can continue to work on his throwing footwork and direction. Very interesting bat on a catcher. Good student, verbal commitment to South Carolina. Named to the PG Underclass All-American Games Top Prospect List.
