Jonathan Redding is a 2023 1B/OF, RHP with a 6-2 177 lb. frame from Houston, TX who attends Episcopal. Extra-large, square shouldered frame with long limbs and some present strength to frame, additional room to grow moving forward. Ran an 8.22 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, full arm action through the back, active footwork coming off the bag and shows balance when spinning on turn, actions at the ball will continue to develop shows arm strength on throws across. Fields the ball out front in the outfield and attacks it, similar full arm action and works on top of throws well from a higher slot, carries momentum through release. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch, high leg lift up past belt with a long arm path in the back to a high three-quarters release. Gathers on backside with a long finish over front, fastball topped out at 73 mph with consistent plane, mostly true in life. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a high leg lift trigger for timing. Weight starts loaded on backside, shows a long swing path through the zone and looks to lift at point of contact. Incorporates physical strength well, occasionally gets uphill with plane but shows jump off the barrel when extended out front and on time. Best contact to pull side and swings with intent. Very good student.
