Matt Merk is a 2022 C/2B/3B with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Lockport, IL who attends Lockport Township East HS. Recorded a 7.39 second 60-yard dash time. Physical build with a strong lower half and good strength proportioned throughout. Primary catcher with good carry out of the hand and quick exchanges. Good release with some lower half flexibility with arm strength up to 76 mph and a best recorded pop time of 2.00 seconds. Right-handed hitter with a slightly open stance, high hand set, and a high back elbow. Uphill stroke and swings with intent. Middle of the field approach and has strength at contact. Gets timed up nicely and allows the power to play into both gaps. Solid at-bats with some barrels in game against velocity. Great student. Verbal commitment to Eastern Florida State.
