Matthew Santana is a 2023 C/RHP with a 5-6 160 lb. frame from St John, IN who attends Marion Catholic. Square shouldered athletic build, looks taller and has present strength. Right handed hitter, hits from an open stance with a lift and replace load, swings hard and shows consistently good game timing and barrel skills, puts the ball in the air with some mature carry, keeps his approach simple and repeatable, had a quality at-bat every time at the plate. 7.35 runner, has good athletic quickness behind the plate, gets rid of the ball quickly and shows very good arm strength for his age, throws tend to tail but he puts them on the correct side of the base, will continue to improve his receiving skills with repetitions and coaching. Also pitched, full hands over head delivery, slow pace, repeats his mechanics well and throws strikes, will occasionally over rotate from the stretch. Worked fastball/change up with a straight fastball up to 77 mph and occasional big fade on his change up. Good student. Named to the Perfect Game 14U Midwest Showcase Top Prospect List.
