Patrick Rakes is a 2023 OF/LHP, 1B with a 6-3 192 lb. frame from Daleville, VA who attends The Miller School of Albemarle. Strong, athletic build. Ran the sixty yard dash in 7.18 seconds. A primary OF, he throws with a compact arm circle. The majority of his throws were accurate and he has feel for playing the hop on his throws. His best throw from the OF topped out at 78 mph. On the offensive side of the ball, he hits out of a spread out, open stance with a high hands and back elbow setup. Showed aggressive intent in his swings and got his lower half into the stroke which allowed him to tap into his full power potential. Showed a middle of the field to pull approach to go along with a flatter bat path through the zone. Also has a knack for being able to backspin balls off the bat, even though his bat path lacks significant loft his ability to backspin will still allow him to elevate with authority. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
