Matthew Riley is a 2021 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-3 228 lb. frame from Eads, TN who attends First Assembly Christian. Large build with room to still strengthen as he continues to develop. Primary pitcher, has a longer arm action from a true three-quarters slot. Creates some deception after separation as he hides the ball well behind his head. Fastball up to 81 mph, locates it to both sides of the plate with intent. Low 11-to-5 shaped slider shows good depth with developing bite. 72 mph off-speed pitch has some slight fade to the plate. At first base, stays in front of the ball well and showcases clean glove work out in front. Fluid actions coming off the bag. At the plate, uses an upright and even stance. Stays tall on his backside, looks to get the head out on inside pitches. Possesses good pop to his pull side gap. Excellent student in the classroom as well.
