Daniel Camarena is a 2011 1B/OF/LHP with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Bonita, CA who attends Cathedral Catholic HS. Strong mature build. Top level 2-way prospect. Has been primary LHP but may have higher ceiling as a hitter. 6.92 runner, open to straight hitting stance, well balanced, aggressive hitter, very strong and quick hands, pull approach with plus power potential. Smooth defensive actions at 1B, can also play outfield. Full back turn delivery on the mound, lands a bit closed, extended smooth arm action, varies FB velocity/movement/location, tops at 91 mph and will sink it at 83-84 as well, pitches off a big curveball with plus command, very nice feel for a change up. Good student, verbal commitment to San Diego. Selected for the Aflac All-American team.
