Evan Kehoe is a 2007 1B/3B/P with a 6'1'', 205 lb. frame from San Diego CA, who attends Mira Mesa HS. Kehoe has a strong, physical body. He is a good baseball player, both as a position player and as a pitcher. Offensively he has a good set-up and digs in aggressively. His hands work well and he swings with good balance. Kehoe hits hard line drives to all fields and has some present day power to the middle of the field, with more down the road. He explodes through the ball at contact. Kehoe is not just a bruiser, he should hit for good average and for power. Defensively he has good feet and works the bag well. He has soft hands and an accurate arm. Kehoe is a quality defensive player and likes to play that side of the game. He is also a good pitcher and his stuff could come one. He pitched three innings, giving up zero runs, one hit and struck out four. He has an over the top slot and a clean arm action. Kehoe hides the ball a bit, resulting in sneaky, if not overpowering stuff. His fastball command is good, particularly to the opposite arm side. He also has a quality curveball and more importantly, he can use his curveaball. Hitters were consistently rolling it over to the infielders for weak outs. Kehoe also possesses a solid change-up, thrown with good hand speed. He has an effective three pitch mix, can pitch, and understands the game. He is a rare pitcher that can use his fastball to pitch, especially impressive knowing that he topped out at 81 mph, sitting 78-80. Kehoe is a top notch student in addition to being a polished baseball player. Expect his bat to play quite well at the college level.
