Tanner Spallina is a 2020 C/ with a 5-11 195 lb. frame from Goodyear, AZ who attends Verrado. Strong athletic build with room to fill out. Ran a 7.47 second sixty-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Employs a side saddle stance with clean receiving actions. Flashed low actions with good footwork gaining ground well from behind the plate. Showed good arm strength with quicker transfers into throws topping out at 77 MPH and posting a 1.90 second pop time. Right handed hitter. Employs a narrow stance with a leg lift trigger. Displayed a flat barrel path through the zone looking to work line drives to the middle and opposite fields. Showed the ability to create barrel speed with a high intent swing and polished upper half mechanics. Flashed gap to gap power when on time and squared. Showed pull side power with a loud home run in batting practice as well. Also pitched at the event. Stretch only using a belt high leg lift with a slight hip coil at the top going to drop and drive actions down the mound landing online with the plate and staying online through finish. Showed a medium loose arm action going to a lower three-quarter arm slot at release. High intent delivery with good arm speed. Uses a fastball with developing control up to 81 MPH complemented by a smaller 10/4 curveball up to 71 MPH and a sinking changeup also at 71 MPH. Excellent student.
