2021 Preseason HS Prospect Showcase
Preston Amsden is a 2022 1B/RHP/3B with a 6-2 220 lb. frame from Hallettsville, TX who attends Hallettsville. Big and strong build. Right handed hitter, has a big stride into contact and will get out front early at times and get off balance, looking to pull the ball, shows plenty of carry and the ability to create back spin when he stays back on the ball and is on time, has the tools to keep improving as a power hitter. 7.86 runner in the sixty, showed soft hands at first base on defense. Took a turn on the mound, multi-part delivery with late acceleration to the plate that cost him leverage and timing, slowed down his mechanics in the second inning and threw better quality strikes, arm action is high 3/4's to over the top. Fastball topped out at 78 mph with some arm side life, also threw a soft curveball. Good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
