Alex Portes is a 2019 C/3B with a 5-6 180 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Mater Academy Lakes. Medium frame with good strength throughout body at present. Ran 60 yard dash in 8.50 seconds. Sets up to hit from open stance with simple toe tap trigger, does a good job shifting lower half into contact, hands close to body throughout with high back elbow in set. Shows good barrel skills out front with ability to match plane, did a good job squaring up line drives to all fields for the most part. Worked out defensively behind the plate. Higher set back there, receives well out front with soft hand, gains ground well and shows clean, efficient footwork. Popped as low as 2.12 seconds and threw 69 mph down to 2nd base.
