Ashton Luera is a 2021 C/RHP, 3B, IF, OF with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Albuquerque, NM who attends Cibola. Ran a 7.88-second sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a medium frame and strength in the lower half. Starts from a lower set, replacing the feet well while gaining some ground to second base. Has a lower arm stroke, making accurate throws to second base at 72 miles per hour. Recorded a 1.97 pop time. Also worked out in the infield, rounding the ball well with a deeper funnel and moving well to the glove side. Has similar arm strength, making throws across the diamond with accuracy at 77 miles per hour. Switch hitter that starts from a tall and open stance, with developing bat speed and some stiffness to the hands. Has a middle to pull-side approach, swinging with intent and showcasing developing strength at the point of contact. Also pitched, showcasing a slow and deliberate windup with a high leg lift and good linear direction in the lower half. Has a quick and compact arm action, releasing from a high three-quarter slot and generating good arm-side run to the fastball at 77-80 miles per hour. Uses the fastball to get ahead of hitters and shows a changeup with sinking action as well in the upper-60s. Good student.
