Evan Cornwell is a 2020 SS/RHP, OF with a 5-7 125 lb. frame from Pompton Lakes, NJ who attends Pompton Lakes HS. Younger look with room for growth upon physical maturity and development. Recorded a 5.31 40-yard dash. Primary shortstop with quick twitch athleticism and quick footwork. Shorter arm action from the position with accurate throws across the diamond. Shows quickness in the outfield with some finish as he works through his throws. Fuller arm from the outfield and gets a good release on his throws. Two-pitch mix from the mound that included a fastball and curveball. The fastball had some cut to it and the curveball, although not thrown often, showed some break to it. Switch hitter at the plate who graded out best from the right side. Showed clean hands throughout with a more compact, smooth stroke from the right side. Line drive approach to all fields and showed solid feel with bat-to-ball skills. Great student.
