Matthew Walker is a 2018 2B/C with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from San Gabriel, CA who attends South Pasadena. Medium frame with an athletic build. Body projects for additional strength throughout frame with physical maturity. Ran a 8.01 sixty-yard dash. Primary second baseman, smooth paced footwork while surround the baseball from a deeper position. Developing glove actions while funneling the baseball out front. Creates some momentum while working through transition. Releases from a tall throwing position with a low three-quarters arm slot. Creates some body recoil through extension. Throws had uphill carry across the infield with accuracy to the bag, topped at 75 mph. Left handed hitter with a spread. open stance and high back elbow set. Creates some linear lower half shift into contact. Weight works into a tall front side at contact with an uphill swing plane that creates some leverage through extension. Flashed good bat speed when turning barrel and working to the pull side gap. Primarily looked to lift the baseball with a gap to gap approach. Shows best barrel control and jump when working the baseball to the middle of the field. Very good student as well.
