LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2005 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Moran is a 6-1, 155 lb left handed first baseman/outfielder from New York with a very young, projectable body. He ran the 60 in 7.47 and threw a strong 83 mph from the outfield. Moran showed smooth and polished defensive actions at first base and that might be his best position in the future. Moran had one of the best pure swings at the showcase. It's very smooth and quick and enables Moran to square up on the ball just about every time he swings the bat. The only thing that Moran lacks right now is the strength to drive the ball hard consistently, but he did show some present gap to gap power on a few swings. He must be a very high average hitter with metal. It became a PG scouting staff talking point every time Moran came up to the plate; "I wonder where he's going to the ball hard to this at bat." Moran also pitched and showed a loose arm and balanced delivery while throwing 77-80 mph with his fastball. Follow very closely, this is a young hitter who could come on quick and be an impact player soon!
