2021 WWBA Workout Showcase (July 14)
Jonah Cook is a 2023 3B/RHP, SS, OF, UT with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Gulf Breeze, FL who attends Gulf Breeze. Recorded a 7.07 second sixty-yard dash time. Long, lanky frame with some lean muscle throughout and plenty of room to add strength as he matures. Primary third baseman with a developing defensive skill set and plenty of upside remaining. Displayed deliberate footwork into and through the fielding process, funneling cleanly out in front with good usage of his lower half and some present arm strength. Recorded throws up to 80 mph across the infield despite a minor injury during the sixty-yard dash. Secondary outfielder with an anticipatory approach into fielding slightly off to the side, while maintaining some momentum through release. Recorded online, accurate throws up to 83 mph during the outfield portion of the workout despite mentioned minor injury. Right-handed hitter that hits from an even based stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and leg lift trigger. Leveraged stroke that gets on-plane early and has present bat speed. Displayed fairly consistent bat-to-ball skill with best impact to the middle and opposite field. Did show ability to turn the barrel on the inner-half when necessary. Will continue to improve with refinement of defensive tools, proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Excellent Student.
