Trent Jones is a 2020 RHP/SS, OF with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Virginia Beach, VA who attends Cape Henry Collegiate School. Taller frame with long limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Ran a 7.07 sixty-yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher who worked exclusively from the stretch. Quick, high leg lift and stayed flexed on back side at gather. Worked to the plate with drop and drive lower half actions and lands at a closed position. Quick arm circle at take back and released from a lower three-quarters arm slot. Fastball created some run to arm side out of hand sitting in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 83 miles per hour. Curveball displayed tight spin out of hand with late sweep to glove side in the low 70's. Consistently changed speeds while effectively keeping hitters off balance in positive and negative counts. Also worked out defensively from the infield and outfield. From the infield showed clean footwork while surrounding the baseball. Stays square while funneling out front and worked through exchange quickly. Throws produced on line carry across the infield topping at 83 miles per hour. Form the outfield, showed sound footwork while attacking the baseball. Clean glove actions at pick up and maintained momentum towards the bag while working through exchange. Throws generated accurate, on line carry to the bag topping at 82 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, crouched stance and simple heel up trigger. Stays on back side and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to baseball and utilized a slightly lifted barrel plane through extension. Showed developing bat speed with a good feel for the barrel throughout the zone. Primarily looked to drive the ball on a line to the middle of the field. Good student as well.
