Kurt Pitha is a 2017 RHP/3B with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Reno, NV who attends Reno HS. Large frame with long limbs and wiry strength throughout. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.97 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a short rock step delivery to waist high leg kick. Creates some curl at balance point and turns back towards hitter producing torque. Gathers well at balance point and stays tall on back side. Utilizes lower half well and generated good push from backside while driving to the plate. Releases from an extended three-quarters arm slot with good extension out front at finish. Arm is loose, creating good arm speed and whip through the zone as well. Fastball has riding life with running action to the plate topping at 86 mph. Fastball offering jumped on hitters quickly with heavy actions as well. Curveball has 9/4 shape with sweeping action and some depth down in the zone. Tends to break early at time, but flashed sharp break when maintaining arm speed. Consistently filled the strike zone with effectively missing barrel and inducing weak contact. Right handed hitter with a coil, front side at load. Lower half launches to contact with linear actions producing big shift. Attacks the baseball out front flashing solid pop to the pull side gap when turning barrel to contact. Aggressive approach at the plate while swinging with intent to drive the baseball deep into the outfield. Developing feel for the barrel but shows solid bat speed and strength when squared. Outstanding student. Named to the 2016 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
