Dylan Phillips is a 2018 LHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 195 lb. frame from Omaha, NE who attends Creighton Preparatory. Medium frame with a strong, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Primary left handed pitcher with a simple rock step to leg lift delivery. Stays balanced on back side at gather and drives off lower half while staying in line through finish. Smooth arm circle back at separation and released from a loose, low three-quarters arm slot. Fastball flashed solid heavy actions through the zone with arm side run topping at 86 miles per hour. Curveball had 1/7 shape with good spin and late downward bite. Maintains arm speed well with a changeup offing that flashed good fade in the mid 70's. Can command each edge of the plate with the ability to consistently change speeds. Has a calm, poised presence while on the mound with a good knowledge for pitching. Left handed hitter with an upright, open stance and lower hand set. Lower half works to contact with linear actions generating good shift. Flashed present bat speed through the zone on a simple line drive path that created a naturally lifted plane through extension. Consistently squared up baseball throughout batting practice creating loud line drive contact to the middle of the field. Excellent student.
