Matteo Avallone is a 2017 1B/LHP with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Mahopac, NY who attends Mahopac HS. Long limbed young build, lots of room to get stronger. Right handed hitter, inside swing approach, moves hard into contact, keeps hands in tight and looks to hit the ball to the opposite field, consistent right centerfield contact, repeats his approach well, mechanics over bat speed approach. Shows good hands and balanced footwork around the first base bag, makes accurate throws with a quick release, solid overall on defense. Also pitched, left handed thrower, mid 3/4's arm slot, some fall off to the third base side, threw consistent strikes with his fastball and pitched to contact, did not observe an off-speed pitch. Good student.
